...Van Nuys Blvd. gets flooded. This is a problem that has been around at least since I started living in this apartment building, which would be 1989. The storm drain system from Van Nuys and Parthenia all the way up to Van Nuys and Nordhoff backs up, and you get basically a river where a street should be. The water tends to pool up at intersections too, like Van Nuys and Parthenia, Van Nuys and Osborne, and Van Nuys and Nordhoff. You need hip waders if you are a pedestrian trying to ford your way across Nordhoff, and if you are in a car you might stall out as your engine gets wet. It is long past time for the City Council to approve storm drain overhauls in this area. Councilman Richard Alarcon, you are ON NOTICE. Fix these storm drains and do it in a timely manner. This is an issue of public safety. Video information: this was shot with a Nikon Coolpix P100. The native resolution of this video is 720p. The P100 is actually capable of 1080p but I opted for 720p because Final Cut Express 4.0.1 handles it better. Edited on a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo (Merom) MacBook running Leopard 10.5.8. This is my first footage taken with this camera. Very pleased.
