This was not a test. This was not a set up. I was simply driving to work at 5:30 am, groggy, in need of caffeine, and preoccupied with LA traffic, when the throttle stuck open in our long-term 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid test car. It only lasted a few seconds before it came unstuck by itself. I didn't hit anything, but I was closing in on the car ahead more rapidly than intended. At first, my brain didn't register what had happened, even though I have studied this issue in detail. Once I decided that the mat might be to blame, I tried making it stick again by flooring the throttle with clear road ahead. It turned out to be easy to duplicate. So I made sure the mat stayed right where it was and carefully drove to the garage and made this poorly-lit video.
