What you see here is a outstanding and beautifully restored retractable Thunderbird. Known as the Flairbird or Jetbird, it could really be called the Rarebird. Only 6,846 of these hideaway Thunderbirds were built this year although these retractable T-birds were built for several years along with retractable Fords and Lincolns. The convertible top raises, the trunklid raises, the convertible top lowers into the trunk, and the trunklid closes over the dissapearing top. Pretty ingenious. The engine installed in Thunderbirds was the sturdy V8, 390 cid, producing 300 horsepower. And the cost of these at the dealer was about $4,953. The Thunderbird has been restored to such an original state that it looks brand new. Do you see any wear? You can eat food off the engine and the uphostery looks extra sharp and unused. Luscious red paint, sparkling chrome, tags and decals apparent within the engine compartment. Just simply a beautiful car. Thanks very much for viewing this rare retractable '65 Thunderbird convertible.
